Who in the hell calls themselves Flaming Wrekage unless they are total nuts! As if the crash itself wasn’t enough, the wreckage had to burst into flames. It must have been a horrifying sight. Well, this is exactly what the band, (yes it is a band) is keen on delivering, a wicked, horrible and yet exciting sight and sound that drives you right at the edge and then makes you jump. Why? Because that is what a good ride is all about.
When was the Wrekage? Who was involved?
In 2009 a group of 4 talented and edgy musicians and instrument players with an affinity for metal rock came together to form the Flaming Wrekage in Sydney, Australia. The band comprises Dave Lupton; a vocalist and guitarist, Justin Humphry on the guitar, Lachlan Campbell playing the Bass and Matt Thornton on the drums. Their style has been influenced and shaped by some of the most popular rock bands in Australia, Europe, and America such as Slayer, Kreator, Metallica, Lamb of God, Exodus, Carcass, Trivium, put out. Together with their own unique personalities, they offer a melodic thrash metal sound to every piece of music they put out.
To date, the quartet has shared the stage with some of Australia’s great acts and managed to gather a religious’ following of its own. When they perform, it is like a natural disaster just hit, with bodies flying all over. Their energy is infectious, blinding, relieving and quite frankly out of this world. The band is now an emerging force in Australia’s heavy metal scene and in the words of Yoda, may the force be with them’.
Their second album From Flesh to Dust’ was recorded in 2016 and released in 2017. Just as the former, it is also comprised of 8 creatively noisy song pieces. The album’s first single Cataclysm’ is accompanied by a very dramatic, intense guitar- stringing, crazy head- shaking, loud and unintelligible video clip. You should make no effort to understand it because it seeks not your ears or mind but your soul. The loud but incredibly relieving sound sets the mood for the rest of the songs.
This album allowed the band to tour Australia expansively. Among the popular shows they attended was the Blacken Open Air Festival in Alice Springs. It also put them on an international stage through their performance for an 8 show headline in the East Java province of Indonesia.
The band has are numerous shows booked until the end of the year.
