From Fremantle WA, The Blacklisted are producing some amazing material. With the release of their debut single “The Cops won’t find you” the band is said to be refreshing to a lot of music lovers with their wicked riff.
The Blacklisted are fairly new, how did you come together and what are your main music influences?
The Blacklisted formed in 2016, when I joined my brother Adam (drums) and JD (vocals, guitar) in the tail end of their last band. The sound for Adam & JD’s various projects have always been pretty similar, drawing influence from classic rock bands like Guns N’Roses and AC/DC. What signifies the end of their last project and the start of The Blacklisted is the more contemporary aspects and influence I bring to the band, which comes through in things like the gallops and breakdown during our single The Cops Won’t Find You. It’s like all the attitude of classic rock meets modern day technicality!
The cops won’t find you is an awesome tune, what’s behind it?
The Cops Won’t Find You was one of the first songs we nailed as a band, so it made sense to be our first release. Musically it’s an upbeat rock song with a killer riff, a catchy chorus and an epic solo section. It really conveys what we’re trying to do as a band. Lyrically it’s about what happens when you get in too deep with the wrong kind of people, with the chorus proclaiming“The cops won’t help you, you’re a dead man walking with a target on your head”. No one can help you once you’re buried in a shallow grave, not even the cops.
