If you are lucky enough to be in Australia at the end of July and you consider yourself to be a bit of a punk rock groupie, Splendour In The Grass 2018 is calling your name! The event is being held in North Byron Parklands through the weekend of 20th, 21st and 22nd of July. This is going to be a weekend to remember, or not, depending on how much beer you drink I guess! The acts have finally been announced and it’s a mixed bag that will keep everyone happy. If a few of the performers are not for you, it’s a guarantee you’ll find some that you love. The festival is so vast anyway, that you can always take a wander to find something that is more your scene.
This festival is going into its 18th year and it is showing no signs of slowing down! Probably some of the most popular top headliners this year include Lorde, DJ Khaled and Kendrick Lamar. Pretty mainstream for the pop punk scene right? Well don’t worry, there are lots of underdog bands at Splendour In The Grass too, so you are still gonna get some use out of those treasured Chuck Taylors! Some of the acts that you might enjoy include Alex The Astronaut, Crooked Colors, Made in Paris, Allrat, Elk Road and a whole lot more.
The different acts will be performing all weekend long and you can check out the official festival website if you want to know a more in depth set list. I recommend that you do this, especially if there is a particular performance you do not want to miss. Book your place at the festival online right now. You can get yourself a ticket for a particular day or all weekend long, if you really want a hazy few days to rock out with your friends.
Splendour in The Grass is well known for showcasing bands that are a little less known but amazing nonetheless. In short, they are always broadcasting “the ones to watch” and perhaps bands that wouldn’t have much attention if it not be for the event. The festival gives them a platform and the performances are always energetic and just the right amount of crazy to have you hooked. In addition to great music for the entire 3 days, there is also yummy food and a whole heap of alcohol available at Splendour In The Grass.
Despite this, would you believe the festival is also family friends? You can bring your kids along and there are even babysitting facilities available that you can make the most of.
There are many different “areas” at Splendour in The Grass depending on what type of music you like and the overall vibe you are going for. There is even a comedy club, which guarantees a laugh or two. If you have never been to a festival before, this epic event is a good as place to start as any!
