One More Weekend
If you are looking for an plays the bass guitar and awesome new band to listen to who will absolutely blow your socks off, look no further than One More Weekend. Playing punk songs that people all around the country fall in love with, this band is definitely one to watch out for. One More Weekend is made up of Connor Dougan who sings vocals and plays guitar, his brother Leith who vocals, you can find Tim Aslett playing guitar/vocals and Paul Healey is on drums and percussion.
The voices and instruments of these members come together amazingly for a truly awesome performance every single time. The band are actually based in Melbourne, Australia and are signed up with Polar Records.
The guys first came together to make music in March 2015 and they have been going strong ever since. Connor is who mostly writes the tracks but working with each other to create catchy and thought provoking tracks is what these men do best. It is sheer luck that One More Weekend became as big as they did.
They accidentally enrolled in a competition with other bands at a local venue to fill in for a band who didn’t show up. They surprisingly went on to win this small competition and the prize being a recording day at Wedgetail Records. They started getting noticed really quickly after that, the gigs came and an army of fans were instantly drawn to this down to the band who have so much energy on stage! They grabbed their new found local fame by two hands and started working harder than ever before. Whilst performing live is what they love to do, the band polished their music asmuch as possible and went on to release their debut album “We Used To…” While this band have only currently worked in and around Australia, they are such a promising foursome that could no doubt become big with alternative music fans around the world if they work hard enough. With their combined style of rock and pop punk, One More Weekend are sure to have you on your feet and jumping around if you go to one of their shows. Some of their notable songs from their debut album include “You Don’t Know Me” which has awesome lyrics and a generally great vibe to it.
“Boxheads” is also a really cool song which they have actually made a fun music video to. Their feel good tunes is one of the reasons why fans love them. These guys are high energy but their voices are frickin amazing and will instantly draw you to the guys. The catchy punk music that One More Weekend produce is easy to commercialise but it’s also very personal to their fans, who are the ones who no doubt got them to where they are today.
If I were to compare this band to a band that is more well known it would be a mixture of Panic At The Disco and Blink 182. This band have performed in local gigs and bigger festivals with musicians that they love to listen to. They have built themselves an awesome reputation both on and off stage due to their attitude to their fans and peers. Check out their new EP and you are not going to be disappointed with the music that hits your ears.
If you are in Australia and are looking for a festival to attend this year, why not go to one where you know One More Weekend will be attending? You can check out their latest dates on their official website. Slumming it with these guys with an awesome weekend camping and listening to good music in a field is definitely where the action is at. They are regularly attending festivals and one they appeared at recently which was a big hit was The Rabbit Hole Festival in Victoria. One of the reasons why One More Weekend are definitely the new kids on the block to look out for is because they work hard, they are relaxed and they actually get on as friends and bandmates. There is no friction in the band, they have a good time but they keep the focus on producing good music.
Check out these guys and their pop punk music right now and you will not regret it!
