Listening to From Parts Unknown is like taking a fast ride through several music genres and picking up bits and pieces along the way. The end result is an original style that combines the sounds of metal, rock, punk, ska, rockabilly, and even a little of 80’s emo infused pop.
The group actually comes from Dallas, Texas but it is their unique musical style that makes them seem like they’re from a foreign land. Their style is loud, intense and very energetic. It is fuelled by a passion for playing music and creating an engaging range of sounds that keep their audiences guessing.
The band formed in 2013 and is made up of three likable guys who are: Ben McCracken on guitar and vocals, Kyle Owens on drums, and Chris Parrish on upright bass. Interestingly, all three of the band members previously were in other bands before coming together and there was a point when they really didn’t know whether they would continue making music as a group. The decision to include the upright bass was not really planned either but after realizing that the three of them actually sounded pretty good together, they decided to keep the upright bass a part of their signature sound too.
