Imagine your mum and a couple of her friends drunk, how an exciting scene it would be. Now take that picture and put some rock music and pop- punk moves in it and you have the Drunk Mums’ rock band; the best thing that could ever happen on a live stage, ever!
The Drunk Mums rock band actually exists already, the bearer of one of the best brand names in the music industry. Here’s the catch though they are not mothers, and as a matter of fact they are guitar-wielding men in funky wigs. Yes, all men who are unafraid of experimenting with their looks and music. It’s a thrilling act with sounds that drive the crowd crazy every time.
The band is currently signed under the Pissfart Record Label, a rather embarrassing name to say the least. Everything about this band is just off and crazy, a worthy escape from formality. They describe their genre as Catchy ass hard rockin punk’. Their style and quirkiness have been influenced by some of the coolest rock bands in Australia and across the globesuchasAussieRock,77 Punk, Garage Punk, Slack Rock, Rhythm, and Blues.
They strictly play who they are. They do not seem to care about what anyone thinks and this authenticity and boldness is what pulls them a massive crowd. They get pretty drunk and silly too before or during their gigs (they have actually admitted to this, it’s not hearsay). With them, what you see is what you get and anything could happen on stage or when recording their songs. As a matter of fact, they have earned a naughty reputation for being banned on iTunes because the cover for their self-titled LP depicted haggard aged titties.
They are raw and daring and their energy is infectious and repulsive at the same time. Surprisingly enough, with all the craziness, their songs are well-written and they have a discipline about their art that drives them to seldom miss a show.
The band’s first EP dubbed Eventual Ghost’ -comprising of 5 songs- was released on the 1st of June 2011. Thereafter, they released about 11 smashing songs between 2011 and 2015 under the self-titled LP Drunk Mums’ and Leather’.
They released their second album; Gone Troppo in September 2015 and it comprises of 14 songs. They are currently working on their third album Denim’ with 4 song releases so far. The band has played at many of Australia’s finest festivals such as Party in the Paddock, Cherry Rock, Paradise, and Sounds of The Suburbs.
Their latest song Ode To Death’ has garnered lots of attention from fans and it’s headlining the band’s tours. They have just finished touring with the Red Fang; an American metal band from Portland, Oregon that was formed as early as 2005. Their shared love for hardcore rock and punk would help infuse their fans with electrifying sights and sounds.
