Most cartoonists these days go to art school. That’s a novel idea in itself, but even so, most of them aren’t recognised as true artists. I find them to be radical nonconformists. The people who draw societies idiosyncrasies.
There are a few very gifted cartoonists whose work will make you stop and wonder, not because they’ve created the next Charlie Brown but because they’ve created something unique.
It is even more impressive when an artist expresses something that’s innate in him, but universal in all of us. If art and drawing is a form of language, then Dion Parker would be that guy who knows how to speak fluently and translate it in a way that even a six-year-old could understand.
